Apple WWDC 2026 Set for June 8th: Siri AI Overhaul Expected to Take Center Stage
Apple has officially scheduled its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026 for June 8th through 12th at Apple Park, where the long-awaited Siri AI overhaul is expected to headline.
What to Expect
The conference will showcase the 2026-branded editions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Apple says WWDC26 will "spotlight incredible updates for Apple platforms, including AI advancements and exciting new software and developer tools."
The Siri AI Overhaul
After last year's "liquid glass" visual redesign, all eyes are on Apple Intelligence to deliver on delayed features, particularly the AI upgrade for Siri. The new Siri is expected to:
- Integrate with third-party AI chatbots via the Extensions feature (Google Gemini, Anthropic's Claude)
- Take autonomous actions across apps on behalf of users
- Power a standalone Siri app
- Enable upcoming hardware products including a smart home hub and updated HomePod
Hardware Implications
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that several hardware products are waiting for the new Siri release:
- Smart home display (HomePad): Postponed pending AI improvements
- Updated HomePod: Dependent on new Siri capabilities
- New Apple TV: Also awaiting the Siri upgrade
- iPhone 18 Pro: May arrive months before the standard model in a staggered fall release
Recently Launched Hardware
Apple has been releasing iterative updates in the meantime, including the MacBook Neo ($599), MacBook Pro with M5 chips, Studio Display XDR, AirPods Max 2, and second-gen AirTags — leaving the big reveals for WWDC.
Developer Focus
As always, WWDC will include the Platforms State of the Union alongside the keynote, providing developers with detailed technical sessions on implementing new features across Apple's platforms.
