Wearable AI: Smart Glasses and Pins Are the Next Computing Platform
Wearable AI devices are attempting to replace the smartphone as the primary computing interface. Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses have sold 2M+ units with built-in AI assistant. Humane AI Pin (despite mixed reviews) pioneered the always-listening AI wearable concept. The challenge: no wearable has yet delivered the killer use case that makes people leave their phones at home. Key technical hurdles include battery life (needs 1+ day), always-on AI latency (needs <500ms), and display quality for AR. By 2028, lighter smart glasses with holographic displays could finally make wearables mainstream.
