OpenCiv1 recreates Sid Meier's legendary Civilization 1 (1991) from scratch, making it cross-platform and copyright-free.

Technical Details

Key Difference from FreeCiv

Unlike FreeCiv, which diverged significantly from original gameplay, OpenCiv1 preserves all original rules and functionalities while being completely copyright-free.

How to Contribute

  1. Testing: Play and submit bug reports
  2. Code Translation: Translate pseudo-assembly to native C#
  3. Visual Themes: Design SVG graphics and MIDI soundfonts

No original source code is included — Microprose never released it. All code is rewritten from scratch. The project has gained significant traction with 430 GitHub stars.
